Flaunt-a-Friend Friday!
I received this message from an amazing woman I know named Dr. Foo Sawasdee. She is the godmother of Thai food in Austin and, without a doubt, is the original Thai-Texan! I hope you get a chance to enjoy her food & company at this Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce event or at either of her two restaurants: Satay or the Thai Noodle House
Dear Friends,
I hope you all had a great Summer. I just returned from Thailand yesterday and had to jump in to help TACC and TCA with one the most exciting event coming up this week.
I am writing on behalf of Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce (TACC) to invite all my dear friends to join me and a team of fabulous Chefs for a two-days Cooking Extravaganza (November 3 &4) at the First "ASIA FOOD FEST" in Austin Texas (Please see attached Poster). This event is supported and partnered by TCA (Texas Culinary Academy), Hong Kong Market, Western Union, and SATAY Restaurant, to benefit TACC's multiple community projects in Austin, Texas.
Although ASIA FOOD FEST is new to Austin, it is resulted from the success of last year "Thai Cooking Festival" in Austin and Houston, sponsored by the Thai Government to promote Thai cooking in the US.
This year, however, we realized that our culinary trend is on "Global Cuisine" and Asian-inspired dishes are of significant interest. Therefore, we have teamed up with several Asian Chefs and Asian-inspired Chefs from our beautiful Austin (Chef Jeff Liu from Bistro 88, Chef Quincy Adam-Erickson from Amuse Bouche, Chef Steve Riad from TOMO, Chef Nam from Koriente, Chef Mac from Me Kong River), Chef Chan from San Antonio, and our last year's most popular Chef Instructor from Thailand "Dr. Surachai Kim" to perform a series of "Asian-inspired" Wine &Food Pairing Dinners (at SATAY, Bistro 88, and Ventana) and Asian cooking classes and demonstration (from Basic to advanced Thai, Vietnamese, Sushi, Korean, Chinese classes), and an Iron Chef Contest as a big Highlight for the event at the Texas culinary Academy on Burnet Road.
Please call TACC at 420-8777 OR TCA at 837-2665 for details or register for all classes on line at www.txasianchamber.org
